What Projects are Using ShadowLight-Mirage?
Architecture
UIUC Professor Joy Malnar has taught two senior and two graduate architectural design studios using ShadowLight where the students developed their designs using both traditional 2D/3D techniques and the immersive capabilities of ShadowLight. In December 2002, her studio presented their work on a VisBox running ShadowLight at the ISPACE art gallery.
Military
The United States Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory has used ShadowLight to import models into the CAVE and manipulate them as part of the Fort Future project.
VR-savvy
Seventh and eighth grade girls at Urbana Middle School have developed worlds in the CAVE through the VR-savvy outreach program directed by Dr. Umesh Thakkar, NCSA research scientist and GSLIS visiting
assistant professor. VR-savvy is funded by the Silicon, Carbon, Culture initiative.
